What is a Kugan ?

Kugans Intro.png

On DaRO, in order to free players from their original routine, you can use the Kugans System.

This system offers a large pannel of possibilites to a player by adding skills,
affecting his "already in Skill Tree" skills or just by adding stats points.

Any Kugan can be taken no matter the job you are.
As long as you have Kugan Points to spend.
These points are given while leveling and are based on their own exp table.

→ Your character will start at Kugan Level 0, up to Kugan Level 100.

→ You can earn up to 100 Kugan Points at level max.

  • Two main categories are available to choose Kugans :
    • The Classic List is a list in which you can pick as many passive or active Kugans you want.
    • The Specializations is a complete system related to some group of skills. Pick a specialization and you will be able to use your Kugan Points to learn all the proposed Skills.
      • Take note that you can choose only one specialization until you reach Kugan Job 51, which unlock a second specialization, max 50 points spent in each specialization.

How to get ?

  • You can get a kugan by learning the appropriate specialization if it's one, if not, then just pick it up !
    • Concerning the second specialization, you can only spend points in it if you already spent at least 50 points in classic / passive or signature kugans.
      • As an example, if you are Kugan level 55, you can spend only 5 points in your second specialization or in any other kugan category.

Enable Skill

If a skill is granted using a kugan then the latter is generally modified to be usable whatever the weapon carried / employed.
Usually this is associated with the fact that the skill is in a so-called "minor" version (see below).

How to learn ?

  • In order to learn a Kugan, go to Midgard Library and choose any Kugan you are interested in and talk to the corresponding NPC. You will need enough Kugan Points to be able to master it. You can get Kugan Points by getting Kugan Levels.

How to reset ?

  • An Oblivion Voucher allows you to reset all kugan points invested. You just have to talk to the NPC called "Books of Forgotten" deep inside the Kugan Library in Midgard.
  • These vouchers can be obtained thanks to :
    • Cash Shop. Price : 60 Mystic Coins.
    • Valor Coins Shop - Price : 10 Valor Coins. Obtained in PVE - Invasions / Event Bosses
    • Silver Coins Shop - Price : 1 Silver Coin. Obtained in benedictions, pvm content.
    • Poring Coins (Casino's Currency), 2000 Poring Coins. These one are obtained by spending zenys only.

Specific Cases

  • If the minor version of a skill already has a SP cost increased, it doesn't affect the SP cost more.

Lexicon

Minor version of a skill

We sometimes speak of a minor version of a skill. In such a case, generally when it comes to being able to use it, it is the skill undergoing the following modifications:

  • SP cost increased by 100%
  • Can be used with any weapons
  • Range above 3 is reduce by half (round down)
    • Take note that the casting time of minored versions isn't affected by DEX.

Mutation of a skill

The mutation of a skill is an additional effect added onto a skill. The mutation will work best when the mutated skill is learned to its maximum level, but used at its lowest level. The effects added by the mutation are always described as if using the skill optimally; if the skill is used at level 1 and learned at maximum level.

  • When used at a higher level, each level beyond the level 1 reduces the effects of the mutation as follows: Effects = Effects * (Level Max - Level used + 1) / Level Max.
  • When used without having learned the maximum level, the effects of the mutation are reduced as follows: Effects = Effects * Level learned / Level Max.

Devotion (to a specialization)

We sometimes speak of devotion. In such a case, generally when it comes to determine a bonus to specializations skills when "already aquired", and therefore only accessible through kugan, every points spenth in the specialization increase the devotion by 2,5%, maximum 100%.

Devotion to an element

We sometimes speak of devotion to an element (in contradiction with devotion to a specialization). In such a case, generally when it comes to determine a bonus to specializations skills when "already aquired", and therefore only accessible through kugan, every points spenth in wizard/ninja the skill tree increase the devotion by 2,5% for the element of the spell, maximum 100%. But every points in another elemental skill will drop devotion to other elements by 0,75%.

Mastery to an element

Negative mastery would reduce your damage against strong or weak attribute but won't change anything on others. If you have 50 mastery then a water attack initially hitting for 500 and dealing 1000 damage on a fire 4 target would inflict 1250 instead (50% of the bonus from attribute added to damage). If you have -50 mastery then a water attack initially hitting for 500 and dealing 1000 damage on a fire 4 target would inflict 750 instead (50% of the bonus removed).

Summon Power

We sometimes speak of summon's power. In such a case, generally when it comes to skills which grant one or multiple summon(s), the summon power is used to define the summon's attributes ratio while the summon's level is equal to the master's level. One in one, the higher, the better.
