What is a Kugan ?
On DaRO, in order to free players from their original routine, you can use the Kugans System.
This system offers a large pannel of possibilites to a player by adding skills, affecting his already-learned skills or just by adding stat points.
- Two main paths are opened to you if you want to spend some time in improving your character :
- Firstly, you have the Classic List, which grant you as many Active or Passive bonuses. Some of them are also Passive "Signature" bonuses which affects your gameplay the same way than other Active or Passive aspects.
- Lastly, you have the Specializations, which add a specific "class" to your character, which is called a Specialization. They grant your character with more skills related to the specialization you chose or can just affect the one you already have. You can choose only one Specialization until you reach Kugan Level 51, allowing you to choose another Specialization.
- Two main paths are opened to you if you want to spend some time in improving your character :
These Kugans can be taken no matter the job you are. As long as you have Kugan Points to spend. These points are given while leveling and are based on their own exp table that you can find below.

Enable Skill
If a skill is granted using a kugan then the latter is generally modified to be usable whatever the weapon carried / employed.
Usually this is associated with the fact that the skill is in a so-called "minor" version (see below).

Burst version of a skill
We sometimes speak of a burst version of a skill. In such a case, generally when it comes to a maximum higher level that can be acquired normally, and therefore only accessible through kugan, it is the skill undergoing the following logic:
- Effects are quite different (a lot stronger and/or with and notable additional effects)
- A cooldown allows you to change the use of this skill in a more strategic form in order to favor a richer gameplay, less access to the flood of identical skills
Minor version of a skill
We sometimes speak of a minor version of a skill. In such a case, generally when it comes to being able to use it, it is the skill undergoing the following modifications:
- SP cost increased by 50%
- Casting time increased by 20%
- After skill delay increased by 20%
- Damage reduced by 20%
- Normal skills have a Cooldown of 0,5 seconds (even if the skill didn't have one to begin with)
- Advanced skills have a Cooldown of 3 seconds instead
- Can be used with any weapons
- Range above 3 is reduce by half (round down)
Mutation of a skill
We sometimes speak of a mutation of a skill. In such a case, effects are added to the use of the skill in question but are conditioned by the level at which it is used: The lower it is used and the more its acquired level approaches the maximum, the more the effects are optimal. The added effects are always described in their maximum amplitude, they are the effects if the skill is used at level 1 and learned at maximum level.
- Used at a level higher than one each level beyond the first reduces the effects of the mutation as follows: Effects = Effects * (Level Max - Level used + 1) / Level Max.
- Used without having learned the maximum level reduces the effects of the mutation as follows: Effects = Effects * Level learned / Level Max.
Devotion (to a specialization)
We sometimes speak of devotion. In such a case, generally when it comes to determine a bonus to specializations skills when "already aquired", and therefore only accessible through kugan, every points spenth in the specialization increase the devotion by 2,5%, maximum 100%.
Devotion to an element
We sometimes speak of devotion to an element (in contradiction with devotion to a specialization). In such a case, generally when it comes to determine a bonus to specializations skills when "already aquired", and therefore only accessible through kugan, every points spenth in wizard/ninja the skill tree increase the devotion by 2,5% for the element of the spell, maximum 100%. But every points in another elemental skill will drop devotion to other elements by 0,75%.
Summon Power
We sometimes speak of summon's power. In such a case, generally when it comes to skills which grant one or multiple summon(s), the summon power is used to define the summon's attributes ratio while the summon's level is equal to the master's level. One in one, the higher, the better.
